SUMMARY:Know Your Town - North Charleston (Dogtown) Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:Join Robert Skeen as he leads the Know Your Town – North Charleston (Dogtown) group bike tour on Saturday\, October 21. Meet at the North Charleston Community Center (2009 7th Ave) parking lot at 1:00pm\, ride starts at 1:30. This guided ride is approximately six miles and is free and welcome to all. Remember to bring your own bike and don’t forget your helmet. \n\n\n\nRead more about Bob’s tour below:  \n\n\n\nImagine it’s 1935: there was a trolley line where the current 4 lanes 7th Ave are now; there was an active brick making plant\, an active large cemetery\, and quite a few of the buildings from then are still standing. We’ll take a short 6 mile ride along old routes\, see some old buildings still standing\, ride up to and then walk through and observe how the old “two-mile cemetery” is being restored. There\, you too can use divining rods to help locate hidden burials. We’ll see the ruins of the old brick factory and follow the old main road routes.  \n\n\n\nAt one point\, we’ll have to ride up York Ave from Hanna Drive\, a small incline\, and the grassy road to the cemetery at the end of York has strong rock underneath\, so most bikes should be able to ride along it.
