Veterans Day Bike Ride

Did you know that 22 military veterans lose their battle to post traumatic stress everyday? One veteran dies by taking their own life every hour. 

This Veterans Day, join TL Wright, a veteran of the U.S. Army, as he leads a 22-mile bike ride to bring awareness to the 22 veterans that die by suicide every day. This event will take place rain or shine to honor the ever increasing number of veterans losing their battle with suicide each day research and treatments are not able to be done. This event is free and welcome to all! 

Date: Saturday, November 11, 2023
Meeting Location: West Virginia Coal Miner Statue at the West Virginia State Capitol Complex (1900 Kanawha Blvd E.) 
Meeting Time: 9:00 am, ride begins promptly at 9:30 am

TL Wright will lead the tour from the West Virginia State Capitol on an 11-mile ride to the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery (130 Academy Dr) in Dunbar, WV. 

TL, who is on the Honor Guard, will lead the group in a brief guided walk to share more about the monuments, memories and those who are laid here to rest. After the walk, TL will lead the group on the 11-mile bike ride back to the West Virginia State Capitol Complex.

We hope you join West Virginia Pedal Pals this Veterans Day as we honor those who have served in the past, and present, and pay tribute to those who will serve in the future and celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of all U.S. veterans. 

Special Note: please use caution and ride at your own risk when riding on roadways being mindful of cars, road conditions and other cyclists. Remember to bring your own bike and don’t forget your helmet!
